Description

From controlling erosion to stabilizing slopes, our Sandbaggy Jute Netting will get the job done. Grown from jute plants, our Jute Netting is 100% biodegradable, which provides an environmentally friendly method of erosion control.

Installation Instructions:
1. Prepare the soil by grading or raking the area free of clods and large stones. A Bobcat or tractor may be needed for large jobs. Do not compact. If using fertilizer, add it to the soil before grading.
2. Seeds and Mulch (if required) should be distributed evenly over the prepared soil.
3. Jute Netting should be applied by unrolling down the slope or in the direction of water-flow.
4. Dig a trench across the top of the slope. This trench should be 6 inches by 6 inches.
5. Install the jute netting in the trench. Place at least 12 inches of the roll above the trench (further up the slope). Space each staple about a foot apart inside the trench
6. Once staples are installed inside the trench, backfill and compact dirt inside the trench.
7. Bring the extra 12 inches of the jute roll (on step 5) and cover the trench area. Use additional staples (1 foot apart) secure.
8. Place staples 18" to 24" apart throughout to secure matting to ground. All staples must be driven flush with soil surface.
9. Always overlap the edges 2" to 6". At the end of each roll, fold back 4" to 9" of the matting. Overlap this 4" to 8" over the start of the next roll. Securely staple the two layers to the ground.

Installation Instructions

Jute Matting / Mesh is an effective way to prevent soil erosion on slopes and re-establish natural vegetation. The Jute Matting is easy to install and is fully biodegradable. Apart from the usual maintenance required to sustain the vegetation, no further work is needed after the main installation.

1. Prepare the area to be treated to a smooth even grade. Remove all protruding rocks, root stumps, etc. and treat the soil to promote maximum plant growth. (Apply seed, fertilizer or hydromulch directly to soil prior to installing Jute Matting/ Jute Mesh).

2. Lay the Jute Mat / Mesh rolls in the direction of water flow. Adjoining rolls should be overlapped by a minimum of 100mm.

3. Jute Matting should be overlapped away from prevailing wind and water flow direction.

4. A trench, no less than 200mm deep, should be dug around the whole area including bottom, sides and top of work area, this will protect the edges from being lifted during rain or flooding events. Backfill the trench and compact.

5. Depending on the steepness of the slope, Jute Matting Mesh should be pinned with approximately 2 pins per m2, (i.e. the more pegs used, the more secure the matting will be) with particular attention being paid to side and end runs. Side and downhill joins should overlap by no less than 100mm with the top run overlapping.

6. As water velocities increase, Jute Matting should be pinned at reduced centres. Pin down the nettings as above using steel pegs to suit the site.

8. Maintain and water the site as required to promote the growth of vegetation.
