People love scratch off maps because people love travelling; and so do we. Therefore, we wanted to launch the best map possible, a higher tier design with the most detailed typography. To do this we hired a reputable map cartographer to get a high level of craftsmanship.We needed a special printer for the job as we didn't just go for the plain gold scratch foil with minimal labelling. Instead, we designed a highly detailed vintage foil that looks like aged parchment paper, which has thousands of cities and state labels, detailed mountain terrain, and accurate typography on the foil. Many maps only have this level of detail under the foil.
After searching the globe we sourced a manufacturer with a high end, commercial printer made in Germany which was able to produce our design. We also wanted to do something special with the base map, so we decided to replicate a 1920's vintage style map. The vintage foil and old style colors underneath give it a nice vintage appearance. Our aim was to ensure it looked great displayed, contrasts well with its surroundings, and is a product people really do want up in their living room.
